Honestly the best bang for buck and the best mid range card out there is the GTX 260. Best card you are going to find for the 200~ range.

4890. Under $200 and matches a 275, not a 260.

Maybe in speccs, but I like reliability more, so back in the realm of reality, GTX 260 would be the smarter choice in the price-range...Especially if you're an OS tinkerer or Linux user.

Reliability? Can you link to some articles showing ATI cards having reliabilty issues? Because all I can find are the 8x00M overheating failures/lawsuits and the Nvidia Vista driver crashes.

AMD is supporting Linux more than Nvidia these days (I use an X1950 on Ubuntu) by providing a full 3D open driver, releasing specs,  and supporting Gallium3D and DRI2 and other X.Org features.
