I suppose this is a sign that I should cancel my purchasing plans altogether, now that my 360 is out of warranty.

LOL. Pretty funny... can't play games on it or it will explode!

At $400, nearly twice as much as what I've paid for most consoles in my life, I  expected a significantly smaller failure rate, yes, and I don't plan to throw any more money towards it than I have to. Now that I have a PS3, that is where my remaining multiplatform purchases shall fall for the remainder of the gen, and with the Japanese-developed exclusives drying up on the 360, the decision is made easier still. After having my PS2 fail on me 3 years after launch last time around, I assumed Sony would be the one to avoid. Ah well. In any case, I'll know better next gen not to be so hasty in buying a system within the first year of launch.

But back to Bayonetta. I was always sitting on the fence as it is, as I wasn't blown away from the demo. I'll probably give it a rental some time.
