General - I hate Christmas. - View Post

Oh, and as for celebrating Jesus' birthday on Christmas. I really have no issue with it.

It's like when you adopt a cat. You don't know when it was born, or even how old it is, but you pick a date that's convenient for you to celebrate.

That analogy actually kinda holds the whole way round... since it seems pretty likely all around actually considering the BC/AD thing isn't exactly perfect.

I'm surprised nobody attacks the whole BC/AD thing.  Do other parts of the world have different calenders or are they just fine with the religious names.

Edit: Nevermind they changed AD to Common Era.  Wierd that Before Christ is fine though.

From a Christian point of view, I believe that God isn't pleased when people celebrate something that is not commanded in the Bible IF that celebration is against Christian principles. Christmas is based on pagan traditions that still preserve their symbology within the supposedly Christian celebration.

I mean, God doesn't command us to celebrate our birthdays, but I celebrate birthdays because birthdays are (usually) neutral, Christmas isn't.
