I spent a long time on ign's new site looking for a review and was thinking "their new interface is horrible, I can't seem to find where they keep the review for the game."

Then I noticed it came out in 2010. Silly me. That being said, I don't see much promise in a game that so obviously is relying on sex appeal. I can't remember the last good game that relied on sex appeal for the main character.

Having something and relying on it are two different things my friend, and you should learn to differentiate.

It's just been my experience that games based off of movies or games with a female character with an obvious attempt at sex appeal aren't very good.  I won't dismiss the game outright, but it will take a really good recommendation for me to consider buying the game.

What about games that treat male characters as sex objects? Nobody seems to have a problem with Kratos walking around half naked the entire game. What about Street Fighter, Tekken, or DOA. Those games all have semi-naked men and women who desperately try to look sexy. Hell what about Soul Calibur.

.....or Final Fantasy XIII? Lightning has her inner thigh pointing to the camera on the freakin' box?

Most things use sex to sell. Many things that are based on sex, are great.

I mean, what about porn? It is the direct result of selling sex, and basing its viewing experience around it. Some porn is great. Don't tell me you think all porn sucks?

Also, anime. There is a lot of anime that not only contains, but is based around fan service. Some of it is fantastic, like Love Hina. I wonder if you dislike those things just because they use sex to sell themselves.

I dunno if all porn sucks, no doubt most of it blows, but it's certainly all tacky and of little if any merit. I'd really hate for gaming to descend to the level of porn as entertainment. It seems to go poorly for Bayonetta if you need to invoke porn to claim legitimacy for the sexualised elements of a game. Fortunately I don't see the use of sexuality in this game as being quite than low down the scale. One of the things I do find a annoying is the cheesyness and the immature way sexuality is used in the game. The game is trying to have fun with it, but somehow it's just not done all that well. I can't quite tell whether it's too over the top, or not over the top enough, whatever it is it just doesn't work for me. The one thing it doesn't do is help raise the general opinion of gaming out of being strictly the preserve of horny teenage boys who like killing things.

After watching the 15 minute Youtube clip I'm not more inclined to get the game, but I'm not less inclined either. My opinion hasn't changed. It looks good, it's got some unique qualities, but I have my doubts about its greatness. It is yet to prove itself to me, not that it needs to; the game will succeed or fail whether I like it or not, failure being rather unlikely.
