People say that, but it's not really true.
America doesn't have universal healthcare, and more conservative gunlaws... but when you compare plenty of other thigns.
For example, the ridiculious criminal prosecution laws in the UK (the US treats the accused much better.), General corruption of the police and outright racism of France... etc.
When it comes to Civil rights... the US is fairly liberal.
