It has the potential to be. Keep in mind I only played the game itself for 30-40 minutes due to cutscene overload.
It has a different approach as with godhand you started off very basic but as you progressed you built up your combos. Bayonetta explodes with 300 different combos and many ways of attack which you slowly need to master. Luckily the load screen has the whole combo list and wil show you which combos you are doing as you are bashing buttons. That way it sticks with you what they are...and you can learn which are best for which type of enemy.
Or you could just put it on easy and button mash through the game...but yeah, im sure at some point the game will call you a panzy if one does that. ;)
