I'm pretty sure at least part of DQIX/X and MH3 coming to Nintendo systems had to do with the promised Nintendo push/promotion in western markets. It is a bit like FFVII in that sense, which Sony pushed directly.
Nintendo's been hugely successful with Layton, so I'm eager to see what they do with DQ and MH.
