I don't feel as bad if someone pirates an Activision/EA game as I would if they pirated a game like InFamous or Uncharted or something. |
Since when is Sony a small company?
|
Sucker Punch however, is small and they probably want the money they deserve.
|
This. I meant Sucker Punch and Naughty Dog, not Sony. If somebody pirates a game the dev isn't getting money either I would assume.
|
Yeah, people love to forget that devs actually have bills, families to feed, and deserve to be paid for their work too.
It's easy to pirate a game when you pretend you're taking money away from some Bobby Kotick, not when you're taking money away from someone who spent years of their life pouring blood, sweat, and tears into the game.
|
Why would I support and give my own money to something I might not even like?
Again... If the game is garbage I'll probably just finish it and remove it from my computer, if it's good I'll play the first few levels and then buy the game.
Simple as that.
|
The thing is though you still get something from that game. Even just a demo doesn't guarantee that you'll love a game, it's just a chance you take with anything.
Especially if you finish the game, you should buy it. It's insulting enough to hear that you simply do that, but to say that you actually go so far as to finish it and then say eh, I don't like it *delete* and then be done with it is just terribly insulting.
After going to a movie, if you didn't like it do you demand your money back? Or do you just try the same thing and not pay for the movie until after it's over and only if you like it?
Hopefully one day you'll grow out of those terrible teen years where you think you deserve everything, life is simple, and you think you know everything...
|
I try before I buy, sorry.
It's my money, remember? I wouldn't go to a movie that I think I wouldn't like. For example : The new movie 'Avatar' that just came out, first when I heard of I thought it was going to be stupid... until I saw the trailer.. I went to the movie the day it came out, and it's safe to say it was a fucking awesome movie.
See how such a little taste before you buy changes everything? Maybe not for you, but for me. That's like saying : Well... if you buy our game for $60+, you MIGHT like it.
Like I said before, if they had a demo for every game that released, I wouldn't pirate games as much.
|
So you can't watch a game trailer or gameplay videos?
-edit-
Also, it's A LOT of work to release a demo. It's not just pick a section of a game and say GO! Demo's are generally completed before the game is actually completed and that's just a lot of work to make.
It just really isn't a trivial task as I think you think it is to make a demo.
|
Well, here's one semi-pirate they would stop from pirating if they just made a demo, right?
I don't pirate every game that comes out, usually when either A - I don't have money for the game, or B - I'm unsure, even after watching gameplay, C - There is no demo.
