Can anyone tell me the size of the GTAIV game on each system or some other complex multiplat?

I only ask as the Bayonetta demo (as an example) was more than twice the size on the PS3 than it was on the 360... and yet the 360 version is better looking and smoother running.

I realise this doesnt fit in with the agenda of this thread but it is a fact regardless.

Which PS3 demo? The NA one was much larger than the JP one

european one, was about 1.3 gig i believe, 360 was 700meg.  and yet 360 was superior.

I think that's still a bit of a mystery.  I don't know whether the PS3 one was actually less compressed as data - i.e. 360 700meg was actually more data better compressed based on how 360 handles and installs data vs PS3, or because for some reason there was more content in the PS3 data - be it more languagues (which seems doubtful as there wasn't a lot of dialogue in the demo) or some other data.

The issue with that example is whether it's indicative of the different download mechanisms or something intrinsic on the consoles that would carry through to data stored on a disk.

which is why i asked if anyone can tell me the game size of some multiplats that can be compared.  GTAIV being a good example presumably.

Actually - sadly I don't have the info - DMC4 might be a good choice to comapre.  The engine and assets for that title seem very similar to the design of Bayonetta and assets, so it would probably be good to compare to the size ratio difference for the Bayonetta demo.

I think GTAIV as you say or Dragon Age would be good comparison points with FFXIII.

I do think though the difference between PS3/360 isn't going to be the huge gap everyone seems to be expecting.  It's very likely on the BR disk that some data has been duplicated to improve load/stream speeds with perhaps uncompressed audio, etc.  While the 360 will have compressed assets, few will really see the difference.  For one, many still have 360s and PS3s hooked up to SD TVs, while many with HD TVs likely won't have the size of screen or audio setup to really notice much difference.

I think it's nice if a game can have the best possible sound, etc. but it doesn't matter much in the general scheme of things for a majority of gamers.

We'll see next year, but I don't think the 360s going to look terrible because of additional compression, nor do I think the PS3 version was terribly hobbled due to the move to 360.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
