Don't worry, this happens to all new comers of the GT series. Think of it like Demon's Souls, it's hard but fun and accomplished driven. You will have to work and invest time into this game if you want to become an armature at it, becoming a pro will require a lot more effort.
You wont get no where over night with GT, so if you can't invest into learning how to play it then stay far away from it because it will drive you mad.... The game is really a hardcore driving, racing sim.
Keep at it, you will eventually get it, at which point the game becomes like crack or weed, you just can't get enough.
