Does EyePet have a chance to become like Zhu Zhu Pets?

Eyepet as some problems detecting depth, I don't know if it is my room or not but I wasn't properly brilliant when I tried it at my place.

Also, the monkey looks creepy.

Designing things on paper to scan on the camera is pretty fun though.
