I think some of you don't understand how companies like Sony work.
Sony doesn't expect every of their products will sell millions. Some of their products are 'high end' products like the PSP Go or those 3D TV. High wages people can and will buy them, but that's not their main purpose. Sony KNOWS they won't profit from selling 3D TVs NOW. By doing so now, they will be seen as a leader in that sector LATER though.
The goal is not so much to sell millions here but to improve the way they're perceived as a company. Releasing such products show they're leaders in inovation. That in turn contributes selling their other products.
