 You realize they havent been able to pull off a new franchise in about a decade or more right? *double facepalm*

 

 While the game will no doubt be technically sound, I am not expecting the next coming of Quake, sorry. From what I have seen of it thus far, it looks pretty mediocre, and they are apparently not focusing on multiplayer, which is pretty much what made id games classics.

And they've had numerous flops at starting new franchises after Quake, right? Why would they give you any reason to doubt them?

 

 A few reasons, largely I just do not think Rage looks that great. And id has never been known for pioneering gameplay mechanics, outside of those made possible by technical innovation. The best stuff on id engines has always been from modders or 3rd party licensees. Not saying id isnt a great company, but I just do not think Rage will tear up the sales charts or be the next quake. Maybe I will be wrong.

 Also, Mr Carmacks thoughts about Dedi servers a while back did not boost confidence in them going forward.
