Contoller/Console better for FPS than KB+Mouse/PC?!?

My age range is 25-30, I started my gaming career on Atari/NES/Sega Master system/PC (dos/win3.1) all at the same time, just not simultaneous.

My NES got me into gaming, but I always played FPS on the PC (same age range as you).

Wolf3D, Doom, Duke3D, Quake, Team Fortress...

It's not like there were any FPS on consoles back then to compare.
