Honestly I am shocked that nobody mentioned this up until this point. Mass Effect is no mere RPG. This game literally encompasses many genres, and can be played thusly. This has to be the first game I have ever played. That literally does not lock you into a mold. You want to play it as a RPG you can. You want to play it as a third person shooter you can. You want to play it as a squad tactic game you can. The choice is left up to the player, and on the casual setting it is so forgiving that you can get by using only a modest number of mechanics. I have yet to order my squad to do anything. I am fifteen hours into the game and am only now using the equipment management.

This game should actually get perfect scores the only legitimate gripe is with the engine. The loading is somewhat painful, and occasionally you glitch into the terrain. Every so often textures take too long to load. One of the most common gripes in reviews was generic environments, but here is the thing those environments are basically icing. They are superfluous content. Right now I have completed over fifty quests. None of them feeling terribly redundant, and I have the feeling that there are well over a hundred.

Anyone else digging the encyclopedia, and the scientific detail present in the game. Who would have thought that planetary geophysics would ever be in a game so entertaining. Such depth its damned near astounding. I pray that Electonic Arts does not screw with Bioware in the least. Let them keep turning out gems like this.
