I don't know, he does have 1 good point, I mean do you expect 33% of PS3 owners to like racing games, and for them all to buy GT5? I think that's a pretty bold statement. And within 1 year? Maybe if there were more PS3 owners, and no, I don't think GT5 will be a big system seller. As for the OT, what's the big deal? Some PR is covertly critical of competition, and some of it is overt, but the tone and thought underneath could be the same either way. I actual prefer the jerk-ish honesty, at least he's not hiding behind nicer words, he's being upfront with how he feels (which is how he should feel). Would you prefer he said "Yeah, GT5 might do okay, but nothing like Halo:Reach" and then, elsewhere (not on record of course) says "Nah, GT5 won't do shit, is it even a full game this time?" It's kind of like talking behind someone's back versus being upfront with that person. I can completely respect that, even if he's kind of a jerk for it. As for me, I'm pretty pumped for Reach. Halo 1 was the console FPS that really got me into console FPS (before that, I only liked FPS on PC). Halo 16 player system link was also the most fun gaming experience I've ever had (though NSMBW is a VERY close #2), so I like the confidence in Halo, even if that's his job to be confident, even if overly so. Edit: By the way, (looking at your sig) Diablo 3 is not coming out in 2010 =( I'm sad about it too. |
@Red: The series' brand name is very strong, and GT5: Prologue proves this, when you look at GT4:P's sales compared to GT4.
If it's about userbase, then nearly every game on PS1 and PS2 must sell those numbers. But no. It sells for one reason. Brand power. It sells decently in Japan, Good in the US (strong when bundled), and is the Halo of Europe.
Of course, it probably won't do GT3 numbers. But GT4 is possible. GT3 launched one year after the PS2 launched. So I don't see why not.
@Blue: Disappointing, but if StarCraft II finally releases in 2010, I'll be just fine.
Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!
Kojima: Come out with Project S already!
