I agree somewhat with your last phrase, JRPG's haven't had the impact that they had in past years.

But to say that they lost creativity is not entirely accurate as well, you just need to take a look at what Demon's Souls, Lost Odyssey and The World Ends With You to see that there's still creativity and originality in them.

Demon Souls is considered by some to be a Japanese made WRPG. I will be picking that one up soon enough when I have the time to finish it because that game is going to be a pain in the ass I hear lol.

Well, even if it does have some WRPG mechanics, it has tons more JRPG mechanics to it (And no, don't say that turn based is a JRPG mechanic, since KH is there to destroy that reasoning).

Demon's Souls is the equivalent of the Battletoads of RPG's in terms of difficulty ;)

What makes Demon Souls like  JRPG to you as far as mechanics are concerned?

Well, it's action style is more fitting of the King's Field and Granstream Saga games, plus you can feel a bit of a touch of japanese action games rather than WRPG mechanics (No WRPG has mechanics and battle systems even remotely closer to Demon's Souls)

Weapon development is on par to the weapon development in some JRPG games like the Parasite Eve series

Character development is were it's more heavy WRPG focused

Story is neither, to me it's Story flow doesn't fit in any category.
