I haven't read the book for awhile, so correct me if I am wrong
*Potential Spoilers*
From what NightAntilli said it seems that these spartans do not make it off of the planet. Do you guys think these spartans last long enough to enter the underground temple? If so that would be epic. Thousands of of covenant right there ready to kill you 
. Maybe the last level would be of you rushing to escape to a ship to get off the planet. Just like the last levels of Halo and Halo 3. But you just can't make it.
