1. Maybe... We have no idea how much it costs, but the remake would be cheaper.
2. That's not really a massive rewriting, fixing a bunch of mistakes...
3. True, but how much would that really cost in the long run? Not much...
4. There is hype in the real world too. FF7 AC selling a ton of DVD's/Blu-rays. Cloud/Sephy being possibly the 2 biggest RPG icons ever. The game HAS sold over 10 Million copies... There are a lot of fans who would buy it again.

1) Not really. They'd still have to remake all the graphics... which is BY FAR the most expensive thing. Think about it. Development costs have doubled and higher this generation... why?
2) Nah, you'd have to rewrite everything so the dialogue comes off more credible... there was little in the translation that didn't come off horrible or stiltted.
3) Your kidding right? It'll cost a lot more then finding the voice actors.... and they'll charge more because they know they can. I mean why do you think they lock up voiceactors/actors for multiple seasons and games when they don't even know if it's going to be successful?
Because once they are established as the character they charge an arm and a leg.
Example. Say they make a new Cowboy Bebop movie that's set during Spike's time in the sydnicate... how much do you think they'll be paying Spikes english VA out the nose because they know the fans won't except a different voice?
4. FF7 is a new product. I'd expect a remake to sell LESS then AC.

1 and 2. My point is, they already have a template for everything, it's not being done from the ground up. Which will save a bunch of costs.
3. How do we know the FF voice actors aren't contracted? Or at least the main Char's?... Cloud, Sephy, Zack Etc. I'm not saying they ARE... But they have been used enough for SE to have actually contracted them, and if a FF7 remake is in production right now... It''s odd's on that they will have been contracted to do the entire compilation.
4. Seriously? I'd expect it to do 3-4 Million. Possibly more...

1&2) In previous generations. Over half your cost is going to be graphical assets this generation. That's not even counting marketing budget.
3) FF7 ISN'T in prodcution right now. You can tell by the way the developers talk about it. They aren't doing the usual "You never know" or flat out denieing. Instead the company line is "We just don't have the time to do it right."
4) 3-4 Million would probably be lucky to break even.
