What about Sims 3?
IGN gave it a 8.9, but it's probably hard to nominate Sims 3 when you skip or forget the simulation category in the first place.
I never played Sims 3, but I think it's ridiculous for a VG website to completely ignore a game which at the same time was critically acclaimed and the most succesful PC game of the year (> 6 million copies sold?).
