Ok. We get it. You can build your computer for less, or buy a non-Apple laptop for much less than a comparable Apple laptop. If we are talking about this from a hardware perspective, this is the same thing Nintendo has done this gen with the Wii. They maintain a healthy profit margin on the Wii and accessories, not unlike Apple computers, Ipod, Iphone, etc. The Wii is overpriced if you compare it to something like the x360 from a strict hardware perspective (for example), but the software makes up for this. The same can be said for Apple computers because of OSx, iLife, etc. This percieved value isn't something universal and varies between computer users. |
Not exactly.
A Mac does the same thing a PC does - word processing, internet, IM, and so on.
Wii vs. PS360, however, is completely different, as the software libraries don't have a whole lot in common.
If you were to make a comparison to gaming, you'd be better off comparing PC gaming with PS360 - One's cheaper in the long run if you do it yourself, where as the other's a dumbed-down mass-market product that tries to emulate the former.
EDIT: And having watched Apple's OS X propaganda videos, I would say that in many ways, OS X is less user-friendly than Windows.
EDIT AGAIN: Oh, and your argument would make more sense if Wii actually cost twice as much as a PS3 or a 360. >_>
