If we are talking about this from a hardware perspective, this is the same thing Nintendo has done this gen with the Wii. They maintain a healthy profit margin on the Wii and accessories, not unlike Apple computers, Ipod, Iphone, etc. The Wii is overpriced if you compare it to something like the x360 from a strict hardware perspective (for example), but the software makes up for this. The same can be said for Apple computers because of OSx, iLife, etc. |
Except... Apple generally is at a software disadvantage...
