It might be because I watched that developer video about how true to the source material they were staying (Dante is a poet, not a crusader with the flesh of his torso stitched together in the shape of a cross, lol) but something about Dante's Inferno strikes me as ridiculous to the point that playing it is mostly a comedic experience, not a... brutal one like God of War (for lack of a better word).

 

   I thought the grim reaper begging for mercy was particularly hilarious.  He sounds like a muppet, and the things he says sound like something from a twelve year old's power fantasy ("no, you can't do that...  no, no, stop it!  I'll give you anything!")

 

Of course, this is all from the demo, but assuming that's the beginning of the game, I think it's main point of interest will be the amount of campiness they managed to cram in there.

 

Oh, and the gameplay was definitely smooth, but just didn't feel as fluid and God of War.  And definitely not as fluid as Bayonetta.
