Has of right now, I wouldnt really recommend buying a SSD. It costs a lot and that technology changes really fast. Theres a new faster SSD almost each week.
You are better of with two or more HDDs in RAID 0.
And the space is the same. When you said 4gb flash = 1gb on a HDD, its not true, the values doesnt change like that.
If you really want SSD but only got enough for 1, take a HDD too for storage. You put all your games and Windows on the SSD and everything else stays on the HDD, that way everything will load faster.
And to correct you again, you can get 1TB HDD for about 80-90$ CAN.
(I took PC has an example because its not used in consoles yet)
