1. This was clearly meant as a joke. I was just pointing out the irony of it all, y'know, Sony copying motion controls after telling the world it was a fad. And besides, I was talking about fanboys, not fans. There's a difference.
2. I admit, yes, this one's a bit fuzzy. Actually the thing you're talking about was called Vectrex, and yeah that one came first. However have you ever seen one? Those were not thumbsticks.
Sony Dual Analog controller may have been 'announced' earlier than N64 came out, however the controller was never actually created or shown until after the N64 and its controller had been out for some time (Nov. 1996 - the N64 released in june 1996, and its controller had been shown months in advance). Fact is, the closest thing to a controller with a control stick Sony had until *after* the N64 came out was this thing:
3. I said that SM64 was the first true 3D game that gave you an open world to explore in 360 degrees that did it right. And I can't stress this last part enough. They did it right. I've played both Warhawk and Jumping Flash, and no, they did not fit that description.
However, that's not to slam Sony or anything of the kind. It's just that, well, like I said, Nintendo pioneers a *lot* of things that eventually become industry standards, and other companies see what they're doing and go on to make their own versions of these innovations.
But let's not derail this thread further. Everyone thought Nintendo was doomed and would be forced to exit the hardware business, then boom, they disrupt the entire industry and become one of the most succesful and most profitable companies in the history of the world. Meanwhile their competitors, the ones everyone thought would trounce Nintendo, are left behind and are now scrambling and falling over themselves to release their own motion control devices. That's all there is to it, really. Nintendo are succesful, and the rest want a piece of the pie. We'll have to see whether they'll have any kind of success or not.
