Actually, yes you can! Just quick save and you can pick up right where you left off. You can even play other files without losing the quick save! It's just that the quick save isn't permanent and if you load it, you'll have to quick save again.

So it's like Super Mario Advance 4 (the GBA SMB3 portremake) in that respect?
