You do know the same kind of map could apply to calling Soccer "Football"... correct?

Why? Seems kind of different to me, as USA is inside America but neither of the footballs belong to each other.

Because Football isn't really football.

It's "Assosiation Football".

So named because it's a game in the subgoup  "Football" along with Rugby Football, Canadian Football, American Football and countless other "Football" games.

When you call Soccer, Football, you are doing the exact same thing... since the proper term was Assosiation shortened to "Soccer" by the British.

more people call it football than soccer, and so it mkes more sense for it to be called football, plus FOOT and BALL make sense(as in you use the ball and your feet) whereas as american football is more like handegg

"They will know heghan belongs to the helghast"

"England expects that everyman will do his duty"

"we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender"
