I didn't even realize he directed A History of Violence until after I watched it. That's how far he had dropped off my radar. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised.
With that said, despite his craziness during the 90s, I still think he's made the best movie named "Crash". I loathed the Oscar-winner from a few years back. A movie about racism should deal with the subject using a scalpel, not a chainsaw. I didn't find most of the characters believable at all while Cronenberg's Crash was just delightfully absurd.
