They did.
Most people were against the war.
We only got into WW2 because FDR was a stone cold liar who went behind the backs of the american people and against the only campaign promise that mattered to the people who let him in.
FDR did a lot of illegal shit to help the UK in the war. They even had someone falsely impriosoned for trying to reveal FDR's covert plotting behind America's back.
If it were up to the US we would of never joined the war... however FDR conspired to help the british enough to provoke the Axis powers into attacking us.
It turned out to be a positive that he did, since otherwise it would of led to a Russian Hegemony, with them being the first to get the Nuclear bomb....
However. It still remains possibly the biggest betrayal an American President has ever committed against the Amreican People.
Well a sitting President.... Zachary Taylor joined the confederacy afterall.
