He doesn't take "publicly published opinion pieces" a lot of the time. He jacks a quote from some random dude and then proceeds to make the poor guy look like an asshole. Most of the time, his point could be make more effectively without the quote, making his placement of it unnecessary and mean-spirited.
And yes, I am biased. I DO NOT like the guy. But, once upon a time, I had no opinion of him and early on, my opinion of him was actually favorable. I don't get off on seeing people attack one another, especially when the insults descend past the point of it involving only their professional career. Believe it or not but I actually find it extremely distasteful.

Anything willingly made public, whether its a blog, an opinion piece, an interview etc, is subject to scrutiny, that is part and parcel of making something public.
You can quote me some instances of these public attacks, because i have read his articles and i never once remember reading an article that is simply an attack on someones character.
