g-value said: The reason why Western games don't sell in Japan is because most western game's storylines suck hippo assholes. Japanese people care about story. If they didn't then rpgs wouldn't be so popualr there. Also, the japanese don't like the mindless violence that western games bring. |
and this is why a lot of western games will never be classics IMO

Are you guys serious?
Most remembered games have fairly barebones stories (Super Mario Bros. springs to mind) but define themselves in other ways. A good story is only a small part of it. And the funny thing about saying that these western games won't be remembered ____ years from now is that that time hasn't passed yet. You really have no idea of what will happen.

ok first of mario wasnt western made. second i was giving off my opinion on what games I think are classic. Many will have there own opinions on what should be classics even you

It doesn't matter. I was showing that regardless of where the game is made, you don't need a great story to be remembered. You claimed that western games will never be classics because they lack good storylines. I showed you an example of a Japanese made game with a minor story that's remembered as one of the most important and acclaimed games of all time, and is still enjoyable to this day.
A great story has very little to do with it, since few games have great stories anyways.
