I'm not so sure it's that clear cut. What you will soon start seeing with the 360, as we've been seeing with PS3, is developers finally building new engines to take advantage of the 360's hardware. I'm excited for it, and some of the results are evident, like Alan Wake for instance.

This. Devs haven't been willing to do that for the 360 whereas it's seemed to be a necessity for the PS3.

That's changing now.

Double this.  So far, all the big games on 360 have used old modified Xbox engines (Halo 2 to Halo 3 and ODST) or generic already existing multipurpose engines (Unreal Engine 3) for the most part.  Now, though, Halo: Reach is getting a new engine, Alan Wake may be using their own engine (not sure), Splinter Cell will be using a new engine, and at the very least Unreal Engine 4 will be coming out soon(but that won't be utilized till the next gen).
