Great that Dead Space got a sequel, the first one was a really great survival horror game. Now, I have a question regarding a possible loop hole in the plot. Issac is supposed to die in the ending movie of Dead Space 1. How can the sequel be about him? I'm intrigued now o.o

i know they showed him getting attacked at the end but they didn't actual show him die did they?

anyways, i enjoyed the game a lot so i'm looking forward to the sequel.

I know it only shows him being attacked by you know who's Necromorph and nothing else, but him getting surprise attacked and with no weapons to defend himself actually manages to survive that? Doesn't make that much sense.

well i'll agree that i came away with the impression he died too.  but for the purpose of making a sequel it's not that big of a deal as that was left to my imagination as oppose to him actually dying on screen.  i guess issac is just a bigger badass then i gave him credit for.  horray!!

oh, and they said there was going to be some twists....maybe he did actually die and that's worked into the twist.

Humm those twists view points sound very good. Maybe there's some kind of necromorphs that we don't know about still and Isaac became one of them. I would love for them to release a series of comics before the game, like they did for Dead Space 1, they had some pretty sweet history and explained lots of things, about the necromorphs, the Marker and more.

****spoilers****

so you sound a lot more knowledable about DS then i am.  mind giving me a recap of the ending cause when i played DS it was over almost 2 months and by the time i finshed the game i was kind of confused.

...so the gravemind was putting visions into issac's head in order to get issac to bring the marker back and kill all of the neromorphs.  and at the same time the gravemind was controlling all of the necromorphs to try and kill issac and keep him from getting the marker?  for me something didn't compute correctly.

Well, I played the game almost a year ago, but I still remember most of the story from the game.

There are two markers, one that was found on the surface of the planet and one that was copied by that crazy Church like cult. In theory, the original marker contained DNA information and codification about a new life form, which at the time wasn't known to be either Alien or Human. The Church or Cult, having immense influence over main scientist and key elements in the research center, had a smaller copy created (the one you see in the end of the game) so that they could send it back to earth, as proof that their message was indeed true, but the real reason was to unlock the true power of the Marker.

Now, the Marker (the original one) was actually not just codificated DNA, but a codificated Virus, which was activated once it was copied into the smaller Red Marker. That's what caused the first visions and deaths of the people inside the Research Station on the planet. As people died, the recombinant DNA of the Marker mixed with human DNA, creating the first Infectors, which in turn created pure strands of Necromorph DNA. As the infection spread throughout the base and all of the people dying, some of them tried to escape unto the Ishimura, but an Infector got into the single ship that made it back to the Ishimura, thus spreading the infection throughout the ship.

Nicole was there on the Ishimura, the only person to actually have a link to the rescue crew, as Kendra and Hammond didn't have any connection to it (other than Kendra being in the service of the cult or Church, thus knowing the true extension of the power of the Red Marker)
It is believed that the gravemind is in fact the embodiment of the entire codificant DNA of the Original Marker, thus released when the Red Marker was released as well. Until then, it acted as a form of consciousness that spread amongst either the Necromorphs and Humans alike.

One theory can be that the Gravemind sensed the presence of Isaac throughout the control of Nicole's Consciousness, but not knowing completely his intentions, considered him as just another human being. Another theory can be that Nicole is in fact more than just a simple Necromorph and that there is another strand of Necromorph DNA that mutated when it was copied from the original marker to the Red Marker, thus the visions that Isaac had was just a way to guide him to the Original Marker, and destroy it, thus Nicole's Necromorph DNA could become the dominant one.
