"I'm not so sure it's that clear cut. What you will soon start seeing with the 360, as we've been seeing with PS3, is developers finally building new engines to take advantage of the 360's hardware. I'm excited for it, and some of the results are evident, like Alan Wake for instance."
the xbox came earlier and now they are builing their gfx engines?
sure everything advance, like u1->u2,i've seens previews of AW ofcourse but is not that evolutionary(i play games at pc with highersolutions and 4X AA,and at least 8X anisotropic) so even an average looking game can have better image quality from a ps3 high quality game)example left4dead protagonists looking close at them at high Detail setting look unreal and nothing on the consoles comes close.but then you look the whole picture and when lower the resolution and settings becomes at the standarts of the consoles...
Alan wake i agree is just the highest quality coming as a result from working on the hardware for longer and is easier to program beacuse is a pc archicture and they can lets say(put higher settings)I didnt saw livier enviroments or countless objects on screen...Also working on the hardware longer applies to ps3 games also. And when the multis sometimes look the same or worse or better than the 360 and the best looking console games are on the ps3 this justifies what i said...
also halo reach i would count as having amazing gfx not alan wake...(biggest budget)
