Have you played Grandia 1? I enjoyed 1 just as much as 2. First one does have a little outdated battle system compared to 2/Xtreme/3 though, but I still loved every part of it. Its so damn epic.
As for Lunar. TSS/SSSC is great, EB/EBC is f***ing masterpiece. Magical School is good from what I hear, but it has a very high random encounter. And DS is well, hated, but I liked it. It does have a lot of flaws though.

Unfortunely I've never played Grandia 1. I've heard alot of great stuff about it though. I'll try to play it when I can. Also, your right,  Lunar 1 was awesome and Lunar 2 was absolutley AMAZING. Lunar series FTW. I WANT MY LUNAR 3!!!!!!!!!!
