So I'm picking stuff to stream on my Netflix to my PS3, and I felt like watching some random anime while I clean house a bit. So I pick "Gun Sword", generic from the get go, but I figure what the hell.

It has got to be the most unoriginal anime I've seen in quite some time. It's not that it mirrors some other anime, but rather it seems like it just took a variety of anime conventions and styles and mashed them together. I just watched the first episode so far, but it appears to be the setting from Trigun (desert planet, sort of western themed with small oasis' towns), but they put took a guy that looks almost exactly like Spike Spiegal from Cowboy Bebop, put him in a western style "tuxedo" with a trenchcoat and a "Vampire D" hat, made him aloof and cynical like Spike, and then just for the hell of it decided that there are giant mechs and he can summon one from the sky. The villian even acts like a villian from Trigun, flamboyant, over the top, with narrow nonsensical philosophy that he insists on living by. It really feels like a bizarre cross over where Spike Spiegal dresses like Vampire Hunter D, and goes to Trigun's planet, except there are gundams for some reason. I mean damn, did a 13 year old anime fan write his concept?

It wasn't terrible, I'll probably at least watch one more episode, but I mean....damn...it's just funny how conventional it is. Anybody seen this show?
