So you have played the game?
puh-lease
ONLY S-E knows how the game's narrative goes & what the story is
ONLY they can tell which song will fit the game & which won't

The song wasn't design to be a FF song, it was picked out of Leona Lewis's latest album. Leona Lewis (or whoever writes her song) did NOT have FFXIII in mind when they created this song. Even if some of the lyric relates to the game, it will either have to be a conincident or the game designer fitting their story around a theme song (and I shudder at the later scenario).
Previous FF had song that were specifically created for the game, I feel that this is a much better approach than waiting for the game to be near complete and picking a random song out of the 'what's hip' catalogue that voguely fit your need in term of lyric and tune.
S-E failed here.

In the announcement video they said "the song FITS the game"
If they are saying that I will believe them over the 100's of Final Fantasy fans who have shown that they are better at moaning at S-E than doing anything else in the past 5 years
Have some trust in the developers
@words of Wisdom
so what?
Music from FF12 wouldn't fit into scenes from FF7
& music from FF7 would seem out of place in games like FF10 & FF12
once again.....its not as simple as you think it is
S-E didn't have some random lottery to decide which western song they would choose, they have ANALYZED each song carefully to see which would fit the game well......

Fit the game does not equal tailor made for the game. Eyes on me was tailor made for the game. A thousand word was tailor made for the game. This is the first time where a music was chosen that was NOT tailor made for the game and I'm almost certain they did it to give FF a more mass market appeal. It dislike it intensely because it compromise the art.
And no, I don't trust SE, they've fucked up so many time and lied so many times. I'm excited for FFXIII but SE has a lot of steps to re-climb before I can genuinely praise them as a company that I once adore.

Final Fantasy already has mass market appeal. It is the most famous RPG fanchise for crying out loud.
