Crossfire has just released a new feature called Crossfire X, with that you can connect new cards like the 3870 with "older" cards like your 2600. It also allows you to even use your onboard card for some light processing. I don't have a 3800 series card yet so I unfortunatly cant tell you about the ins and outs of this new feature.
