Both countries are pretty good in terms of "where you would want to live and get the most", but I wouldn't say they are very culturally consistent, or a country that I would take pride in from a nationalistic point of view. By Nationalistic I mean "my country is first and foremost the best for me and/or better than yours." The United Kingdom still holds out the edge against the United States in this case, but still not very stable culturally. As for "Americans", many barely even know or take advantage of what freedoms or other things that make the country better than others let alone know the basis of the country and its foundation, yet they still vouch for it being the best. That is something I rarely understand. Maybe it is just an effect of being told "It is the best", again and again. Now this is from a Native-born citizen of the United States of America who has family that has both been here since colonial times as well as others who just came two generations ago, so I have some basis with this generalization at least.
