I have to disagree chris, because the Wii hardware sells because of the games, Wii sports, was one of the reasons people bought the Wii in the first place. Wii fit was a massive driver of Wii hardware. I think both games are great (although their sequels are even better)

Wii fit was also hardware, a peripheral, which is what captivated people.

Wii sells because the hardware was different enough to create buzz among casuals, and because the unit is/was cheaper than the competition.  If a really good bowling game was usuable on the $600 PS3 using analogue sticks, it wouldn't have taken off in rest homes, though the Wii and its sports/bowling games did.  And yes, devs besides Nintendo could have made all the sports games.  The games just weren't made because they wouldn't have sold systems, because it's the hardware.

Now, Nintendo could have totally blown it on software (by not making any for casuals), which they didn't do, but they could also have done better on software, as Miyamoto or whoever said recently.  I think they could also have achieved still higher sales by putting more teams on core-ish games from old Nintendo IPs.  Their costs would then be higher, but so would profits.

Hey, well at least NSMBWii did very well and this + wii fit plus + wii sports resort do do it all for them this year. Last year, it was Mario Kart and Wii Fit. Somehow, 1 giant game of 2 can capitalize the sales of buying a Wii.

Anywho, DS is a monster, im glad its back on top of the wii.

Looks like the PS3 beat the 360 in the Black friday battle, terrific for them. Big margin of victory.

360 really has to look at itself. They do not have any exclusives besdies L4D2 but other than that, nothing is really gonna change what the ps3 can do now. FF13 should knock them out in japan and in europe, lets just say the GT5 Demo could have just as big as a impact the ff13 demo had in japan.
