Let me explain better (I was at work and could not write more). Nielsen does these charts about playtime. So one month the Wii playtime on a graph was ridiculously low. Kotaku rushed to post it without even questioning the data (it reinforced their beliefs). The issue is that Nielsen data deal with opinions and perceptions along with hard data. You have to take it with a grain of salt. Kotaku took it as undeniable hard evidence that people do not play their Wiis. They made a smart ass article mocked it and then ... it backfired. It was just the first graph that had a problem if they read the full thing they would see the contradiction. Chances are that they just saw it on another blog and posted it. The correct report show that the Wii has much higher and even surpassed the xbox on usage on one month (disgraceful soccer moms).
Crescente saying Nielsen dropped the ball just make it more sad. Reading the report or confirming with Nielsen would have saved them.
