IX for sure. It's the only battle theme that continues the awesome beat at the beginning the older FFs had.

IX's battle theme has no soul.  It's like re-animating the corpse of a dead hero; it was great once, but the magic is gone.

X's theme hardly feels like a battle theme at all.

VIII I like because it has a beat that's all its own.  It stands apart from a lot of other Final Fantasy songs (though still too close to VII) and has that sense of urgency, of "we're fighting for our lives" going for it.

Always felt it was ironic that the side character gets a better battle theme than the main character.  Guess the designers disliked Squall that much.
