Denton police seek man who posed as massage student
DENTON -- Police are looking for a man who gave a woman a massage in her apartment Monday afternoon near the University of North Texas campus.
Authorities say he wasn’t a masseur.
A 21-year-old woman gave the unidentified man, who posed as a massage student, permission to give her a massage, but she ordered him out of her apartment when his hand began moving up her leg as he rubbed it.
But police said today that the man would not face a charge for the massage because the victim allowed him to do it, but he could face an assault by contact charge from giving her a hug when he left.
No one had been arrested as of today.
The incident happened about 4 p.m. Monday in the 2300 block of Stella Street.
The victim told police that the man knocked on her door, identified himself as a student of a Lewisville massage school and asked permission to give her a massage as part of his school requirements.
“He first asked her to take her clothes off, but she said she would wear a tank top and shorts,” said Denton police Officer Ryan Grelle today. “He then asked if he could give her a massage on her bed, but she said no and suggested her couch.”
Minutes later, he asked her to unhook her bra and rubbed her back after she did, police said.
But the victim asked him to leave when he started rubbing her leg.
As he was leaving, the man complimented the victim on her body and asked her out, police said. But she said no.
After he left, the victim called her sister who advised her to call police.
Authorities had not received any other such reports in the city.
Police said the victim contacted the massage school after he left, and she was told that no student with the name he gave attended there.
The man was described as a white man about 20 to 25 years-old, about 5-feet-9 with a muscular build and a circular tattoo on his right bicep. He was wearing a white T-shirt with a logo on it, tan cargo shorts and flip flops.
Anyone with information should call Denton police at 940-349-7962.
