Why can't they use a combination of gamerscore and points? So like, 2000 gamerscore or 150 ms points.

Use gamerscore as currency?  My gosh I'd be rich!

both companies have said that they'd somehow use score/trophies as some kind of bonus and I've yet to see a good reason.
