If you don't like the environmental argument then take the economic one: Cheaper to make. Cheaper to ship. Sell at the same price. Make more money. And now that you can say you're saving the planet people will even feel good about buying their games in flimsier packaging. It's a win-win-lose situation, but hey 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

If a company really cared about the environmental impacts of plastic packaging then they wouldn't used fossil fuel based plastics at all. They'd use plant based plastics. There are companies that make bottled water using plastics wholly derived from plant sources. Do that and you can make your game cases as sturdy as you want and be kind to the environment at the same time.

Be sceptical about climate change by all means. But please don't discredit healthy scepticism with wild conspiracy theories.
