In all honesty, it took a price cut, slim model, and a strong first party and third party exclusive line-up to put Sony in the position it is in now.  Can we say the same things in 2011? 2013?  With Final Fantasy and Gran Turismo out of the picture in that time, what will keep momentum high for Sony's it does everything box? Is this the PS3's golden year or will it just be bigger, better and more badass in years to come?

that's pretty subjective on what would you say = badass?

but I see it this generation would be extended, due mainly to the aspect of these system's being less and less static than the previous generation's and not just Sony's machine's look at Microsoft's and Nintendo's. all system's are network connected this time in one shape or form thus there is less of a static dynamic to hinder their progress for viability for future game, or entertainment in the future as there was for prev. system's. Not to say the older system's are not fun, just that they are more static than change to the system's overall function's.

many see the current system's as not just Game system's

if anything this generation is going to be longer than I think many people may think.
