Dont underestimate the power of a good and popular song, coupled with good advertising.

Example - Gears of War "Mad World"... Actually sent "Mad World" to number 1 in the UK charts.

The game made people buy the song which was already popular (xmas no1 2003). But would a popular song or a particular style of boxart make people buy a game? Who's going to buy the game that wasn't already going to buy it?

No, the advert made people do it. Not the game itself.

Choosing a song by possibly the most popular female artist in the UK, as the theme song for the game... Will interest a lot of people, if advertised right.

And boxart also helps. In smaller ways though.

Well, those people are just mindless consumer whores.
