Trophies like Achievements are just a meta game, where by it's allot of fun competing with friends...so really it's like playing 2 games at once.
If your not into the meta game, then simply ignore the trophy or achievement system.
I my self like trophies because it tells people what games I'm playing, how far I'm getting on those, and how many games actually beaten, plus I like the competing with my friends...it's just like the old school days were if you got a high score in an arcade game you'd put your initials down, trophies/achievements are the same except expanded thanks to online.
