I thought there was going to make a list in the OP of votes for and against when I opened the thread. I was going to vote YES. But my opinion prior to BF week was that a 1 million week for PS3 was unlikely.
Traditionally the final week / weekend before Christmas in Americas has higher sales than BF week. So Americas alone should get PS3 half way to 1 million. One possibly confounding factor is that Christmas is on Friday this year, meaning there are 5 whole shopping days between FFXIII week and Christmas day. This could see flattening of sales across 2 weeks and pull PS3 down a bit on FFXIII week (except for Japan of course). I would guess the best pre-Christmas week is when Christmas falls on a Monday or Tuesday.
Other than BF week PS3 has traditionally sold better in Others than in Americas. If Ameerica has rediscovered the Playstation brand then this generational trend could be reversed. But on current this gen history: BF week Americas means 1 million is possible even without Japan contributing it's FFXIII boost. So PS3 could clear 1 million by a reasonable margin and even nudge past 1.1 million.
