It's not impossible for PS3 to catch up, by IMO, it's unlikely. The numbers are heavily against it, and it needs to continue to do gangbusters well after the holiday to stand a shot at catching the 360 WW.

IMO, I agree with all  but for one, the  ps3 requiring as long as 1-1/2 yrs. Instead I wud go for 7-8 months. There mite be unpredictable events. So I won't make any speculation either, although the chances aren't ruled out. To add, Slim PS3 is definitely picking up momentum.

The recent H/W sales are showing enough details  on how the sales are slowly picking up pace for PS3 slim since it's launch

VGChartz Hardware data for the period 06th Sep 2009 to 21st Nov 2009:

1.PS3- 3,119,225

2. 360-2,020,336

It shows that in a period of 11 weeks , slim was able to outsell 360 by >1 mn  units. This will be increasing slowly as the demand for the console is growing for third party publishers. There will be definitely several flagship titles/new iterations which will boost the hardware numbers. So.. all i say is much less than a year.

your logic is good. by your calculation (and mine now) the ps3 will outsell ps3 in 11 months less then 1 year. ok so im only off by 1 month, thats not such a big deal. thanks for your feedback.
